David Luitz was appointed by the University of Bonn to start his ML4Q professorship as of January 1st. He will be leading the research group Theoretical Quantum Many-Body Physics focussing on condensed matter theory at the University of Bonn.

David is moving to Bonn after having spent 4 years as head of the Computational Quantum Many-body Physics group at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany.

He studied strongly correlated quantum matter as a European Union Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellow at Technische Universität München in the group of Frank Pollmann until March 2018. Before, he conducted his research as a Gordon and Betty Moore Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the group of Eduardo Fradkin. Until September 2015, he was a postdoc with Fabien Alet and Nicolas Laflorencie at the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and earned a PhD from Universität Würzburg in 2013, supervised by Fakher Assaad.

As to his start in Bonn and expected future research challenges, David said:
