Erwann Bocquillon was appointed by the University of Cologne to start his ML4Q professorship as of October 1st. He will join the Institute of Physics II and will focus in his research on topological quantum computing architectures.
Erwann is moving to Cologne after having spent 5 years as a permanent researcher at CNRS, working in Laboratoire de Physique de l’ENS where he did research on 2D and 3D topological insulators, electron quantum optics in the quantum Hall effect regime as well as the dynamics and relaxation of Dirac fermions in graphene.
As to his start in Cologne and expected future research challenges, Erwann said “I’m thrilled and very honored to join the ML4Q Cluster of Excellence and the University of Cologne, and I thank everyone for the warm welcome. Topological quantum computing architectures remain a huge challenge, but I am convinced that there are great possibilities to address these questions in Cologne and within the cluster.”
A very warm welcome to Erwann and to many years of exciting collaborations!
