ML4Q associated member Kathrin Dorn joined the Soapbox Science event in Cologne this weekend.

The international Soapbox Science event celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with 45 events in 15 countries. The goal is to bring science to the people and challenge gender stereotypes in scientific professions. In downtown Cologne, the event took place on Rudolfplatz. Thanks to the sun, many visitors stopped by to listen to some science in exciting nutshells presented by scientists from different departments.

Kathrin Dorn who is currently writing up her thesis in Theoretical Physics at HHU in the group of Reinhold Egger challenged her audience with Schrödinger’s thought experiment and answered many questions on the weird effects in quantum physics. She also gave real insight into Schrödinger’s box revealing that the cat was fortunately alive each time her listeners checked.
